Grant or forgivable loan: sometimes given as a grant, sometimes as a second loan that can be forgiven.

A grant is money you never pay back, as long as you keep to the program's rules.

A forgivable loan is written off once you have kept the home and its first mortgage for the years the program sets.

Who qualifies for Oregon Down Payment Assistance (DPA) program?

  • Household income can be no more than 100% of the area median income (AMI).
  • Only for first-time buyers (usually no home owned in the past three years).
  • A homebuyer education course before you buy.

Most limits follow your county and household size. Our HUD income limits lookup shows your area's median income and where your household sits.
