About First Home Grants
First Home Grants gathers the first-time buyer programs of every state housing finance agency in one place, in plain words.
About us
Fairview Assistance Inc., 1600 Market Street, Suite 2600, Philadelphia, PA 19103, United States, operates First Home Grants. No state agency pays us, and we don't lend money, broker mortgages or serve as a government body.

- 144
- States included
- DC and all 50 states

- 4,764
- Fiscal year used by HUD
- FY2026
Your request is sent to a single lender active in these programs; an introduction fee may come to us from that lender.
- Every state has one page; there's also a nationwide program table with a CSV.
- HUD income-limit search and the download that goes with it.
- Also covered: the FHA 203(k) loan for renovations, California ADU funding and repair grants from USDA and VA.
Building each row of the table
- The state housing agency's own site is where we find the program.
- From that page, we note the amount, help type, stated rules and how repayment works.
- An amount is published only if that page shows it word for word.
- You can check it yourself: the program name links to that page.
- Every year, and whenever an agency announces a new program round, agency pages are reviewed again.
HUD's published income limits supply the income figures, while HUD supplies the FHA 203(k) rules. The agency's own page is the final word.
How the HUD lookup works out its figures
HUD supplies the very low-income and low-income limits directly. For the other lines we begin at the area's median family income and adjust it for household size, using HUD's own scale below. Then come 100% and 120% of that figure, plus your income as a share of it.
| People in the household | Share of the four-person median |
|---|---|
| 1 | 70% |
| 2 | 80% |
| 3 | 90% |
| 4 | 100% |
| 5 | 108% |
| 6 | 116% |
| 7 | 124% |
| 8 | 132% |
How the site is paid for
The FHA 203(k) page and state pages let you request contact with a mortgage lender. After you send that request, one lender in these programs receives your entries. We include email, first name, ZIP code, phone if given, your buying timeframe and the page you had open. That lender may pay us for connecting you. The privacy notice explains more. That is what funds the site. Nothing in our tables changes because of it.
