How do you repay Alaska Home Opportunity Program (HOP)?
Forgivable or deferred loan: over 5 years the first $10,000 gets forgiven. Anything beyond that is a 0% loan, repaid if you move out or sell.
Keep your home and the first mortgage for the number of years the program sets, and the forgivable loan is canceled.
If you sell, refinance or pay off the home's first mortgage, the whole deferred loan comes due; until then it costs nothing monthly.
